Vicky Reithinger
Vicky is from Germany and brought Kasperle with her on the move to Vermont in 1995. She has been creating and performing Kasperle shows for 12 years. Vicky found Sharon Damkot, a librarian who is very interested in Puppeteering, and the educational use of it. They started to practice stories and had their first shows in Essex. Lee Oatey-Crouse joined the team after attending some of our puppet shows and workshops.
Vicky writes the Kasperle stories herself. She always looks for miniature things for her stories. Her son Thomas and daughter Hannah are always there to give advice for the puppet plays. Her hobbies are reading, writing, table tennis, biking, cross-country skiing, sewing, and knitting.
Lee Oatey-Crouse
Lee Oatey-Crouse loves to travel, and she enjoys adventures like her puppet characters. She likes to be with children. Her best critics are her children, Annica and Metta. She loves to improvise. Lee had a puppet from Germany, which she one day showed to Vicky and Kasperle. Both liked Lee and her puppet. Since then, Lee is practicing her plays everywhere. In the beginning, she thought puppets were easy. Now she knows it is hard work, but also a lot of fun. Her hobbies are reading, swimming, skiing, and hiking.
Sharon Damkot
Her “real” job is being the school librarian. She always uses puppets as tools to tell stories to the children. She is a very good storyteller. When Vicky met her and told her about Kasperle, they decided to play Kasperle Puppet Theater at school. Some hobbies are rollerblading, playing piano, reading, cross-country skiing and cooking.
Pam Ramada
Pam creates our background scenes (blinds). She is very creative and dedicated to detail. She has a variety of different drawing skills. She took several courses of tole painting etc. Drawing the background scenes was a new experience for her, but she works hard and completes beautiful scenes for every occasion. Matt, David, and Joe, her three sons, were excited that she is a member of the Kasperle Puppet Theater group.
We play the stories as a team of two puppeteers. Vicky plays Kasperle in every story and Lee Oatey-Crouse or Sharon Damkot perform with other characters in different stories.
